Magnetic Drive Plastic Pumps 30.09.09
 

Plastic lined chemical centrifugal magnetic drive pumps are generally used in the Chemical Process Industry where difficult applications have to be handled. To enable the pumps to work reliable and economically over a long period time in connection with chemically aggressive media with or without solids, the Munsch Company has significantly improved some design details in their PFA lined pumps type MPC.

 

The well dimensioned volute casing provides with its aprox. 10 mm wall thickness a very high corrosion and abrasion allowance against aggressive media. The PFA casing is self-supporting resulting in a sturdy design which remains structurally stable even under high temperatures and vacuum condition.

 

The CFK/PFA Spacer cans in compound design are diffusion tight and high chemically resistant. This metal-free, double walled spacer can does neither initiate eddy currents nor magnetic losses. All components in direct contact with the medium, are manufactured in pure PFA. The sleeve bearings are produced in high purity uncoated Silicon Carbide which is universally chemically resistant and can withstand short periods of dry-running throughout their whole service life because of their specific one-piece sleeve design.

The hydraulic components are based on CFD design calculations which reduce not only the initial cost but also the operating expenses. Further improvements are achieved with the presently developed Turbulence-Modelling System ( SAS- Model ). Velocity turbulences and flow characteristics can be clearly identified in various locations. Whirl formations and cavitational tendencies become visible in critical areas.

 

 

If the operation conditions change, it is possible with this pump design, to connect retrospectively flushing connections without the need to change the bearing bracket. Should dismantling of the pump become necessary, the reassembly work can easily be carried out by the operators maintenance personnel, as there is no adjustment work required neither for the sleeve bearing settings nor the impeller location.
